M125A-1 Mortar Carrier

by Shane Abdoo

M125A-1 Mortar Carrier

Description

Here is an Australian M125A-1 Armoured Mortar Carrier.

It is based on the Tamiya hull and rear upper deck. The running gear, commander's cupola, hatch area and engine deck are Academy parts. Individual track links are Skybow.

Additions include Verlinden .50 cal., lots of sheet brass and lead foil used in interior and exterior, 40 links per inch chain used on rear hatches, 7 strand picture hanging wire used for tow cables and wire solder used for slave cables. Camouflage nets were represented using tissue soaked in wood glue (white glue) and covered in tea leaves.

The 81mm Mortar is Dartmoor's white metal item.

This carrier is finished with Enamels for the green and brown and acrylic for the black.

All markings are applied with AUSTENCIL Photo-Etched marking stencils (available from me - enquiries by email).

Weathering was a modification of James Blackwell's post shading technique. Extensive wear and tear was added with an HB lead pencil.
